Australia is a huge country which means it boasts one of the largest coastlines in the world, and with that comes some amazing beaches. There is literally a beach to suit everyone here in Australia. Picking the best beaches is no easy task as there really are hundreds to choose from.

Below are three of the the best beaches in Australia. They have been chosen from my all time top 10 list of beaches.

Cable Beach, Broome

Broome, on the West Coast of Australia is best visited in the dry season between May and October. Travel outside of these times is certainly possible but expect rain and high humidity levels.

The beach itself is beautiful with 22km of beautiful sand. Come between March and October and you will get to witness the illusion of the "Stairway to the Moon" This is a beautiful view at Roebuck Bay where the mud flats at low tides give the illusion of a staircase up to the moon. This only takes place during a full moon so there are usually about 3 days per month where the spectacle is visible. This is usually at the beginning of the month.

You must witness a sunset whilst you are here on Cable Beach. There are many ways to see the beautiful view but perhaps the most unique is to take a camel ride. Afterwards, you can enjoy some proper Aussie tucker on the BBQ with a couple of drinks.

Whitehaven Beach, The Whitsundays

If you want turquoise water that is so warm you could be having a bath, combined with the whitest sand you have ever seen, then head to the Whitsundays.

They are in fact a collection of 74 islands, most of which have nothing on them. There are only a handful that have accommodation and facilities on them. These are probably the most expensive holiday resorts in Australia but they are also the most beautiful.

Whitehaven Beach is part of the Whitsunday National Park and so you have to come here on a day trip or cruise here on a boat. There is no accommodation on this island. Even just spending a couple of hours here is amazing. Bring your own picnic and enjoy some peace and quiet on this beautiful beach.

Bondi Beach

No trip to Sydney is complete without visiting Bondi Beach. Only 20 minutes from the city, head here on a warm day. You'll love the vibe here as locals and tourists unwind and enjoy the weather.

Most are surprised by the size of Bondi. It is a large crescent shaped beach and great if you love surfing. It's not the place I'd choose to learn to surf though as the waves are pretty big. Why not sit and watch the experts instead.

If you fancy grabbing something to eat and enjoying a cold beer to admire the view, then head to either end of the beach where you will find an RSL club. These clubs are found throughout Australia and providing you have photo ID you can enjoy really good value food and drink. "RSL" actually stands for "Returned and Serviced League Clubs" but you don't have to have served in the forces to get in!

Seen enough? Would you like to know what the other 7 are? Perhaps you already have your favourite beach of Australia? Whatever you have in mind for your perfect beach, you are sure to find it in Australia.
