Find out in this article the various causes of female infertility and how you can find out if you are in the "danger zone".

The inability of a woman get pregnant and become a mother is referred to as female infertility. Female infertility can occur due to any of the following cause:

General factors that include Age: Female fertility starts its downward journey from the age of 27 and then nose dives after 35. After the age of 30, the chances of conception decrease by 3% to 5% every year. A woman reaches her Menopause at 50, which refers to the concluding chapter of her reproductive and child-bearing phenomenon.

 Gene as a factor decides on the androgen insensitivity syndrome which gives birth to problems.

Hypothalamic- pituitary factors that include Hypothalamic Amenorrhea Hypothalamic Amenorrhea. On account of some measure of disturbance in the thyroid gland and the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal system, both of which regulate the process of reproduction in the females, the process of menstruation remains absent.

Ovary-related problems - In cases where the ovary has multiple cysts (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), the follicles are not able to generate an egg that is mature enough. This occurs due to the unusually low amount of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) in the female body, resulting in female infertility. Anovulation and/or a Diminished Ovarian Reserve can also result in a lady being rendered infertile. The number of eggs, or oocytes, that a lady has in her system is fixed. With the passage of time during the child-bearing age, both the quantity and the quality of these female eggs go down.

Diminished Ovarian Reserve is another ovarian factor in which the woman is affected as she advances in her age. Premature Menopause happens when the follicles start depleting even before the woman reaches menopausal age making her infertile. Menopause starts when her reproductive structure comes to the end and Luteal dysfunction or Luteal Phase Defect is responsible for Implantation Failure which can again leave a woman infertile. Ovarian Cancer obviously makes a woman infertile. Some other ovarian factors include Gonadal dysgenesis in the form of Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in which both the lutienizing hormone (LH)) as well as the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH is produced poorly and as a result, functional ovaries fail to develop.

Peritoneal causes, related to ectopic (tubal) problems - Primary among these factors is Endometriosis. In such cases, the endometrial cells, that are present in the female womb, start to get accumulated outside the cavity of the uterus. This cavity already has a lining of endometrial cells, and the latter are influenced by the hormones of the woman. Now, these hormones also start to affect the endometrial cells located outside the cavity. With time, grave problems can arise from this, leading up to female infertility. Conversely, an infertile woman is often found to be suffering from endometriosis. Other Tubal peritoneal reasons, like Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases, can cause infertility. In these cases, alternative forms of bacteria can cause different infections in the female appendix, her reproductive parts as well as in her intestinal organs (that are located in the lady's pelvis). If these infections affect the fallopian tubes of a woman, the female egg cannot move through them in the direction of the uterus. As a result, problems of female infertility crop up. Termed as Salpingitis in the medical circles, this is indeed a common cause of infertility in women. Other problems in the pelvic area, like Pelvic Tuberculosis, can also occur, with similar adverse effects on the reproductive system of women,

 Factor affecting Uterine is equally pernicious. If you are suffering from Uterine Fibroids then the border area of uterine cavity or the submucosal uterine fibroid kick off continuous and abnormal bleeding during periods. This, in turn, can fasten the process of infertility or lead to miscarriage.

 Cervical Stenosis and Non-receptive cervical mucus are some of the cervical factors responsible for female infertility. Certain factors like the low production of cervical mucus or its inability to facilitate the movement of the sperms to enter uterus, cervical narrowing (Stenosis) deteriorate the condition. Cervical infections because of Sexually Transmitted Diseases like Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma hominis, Trichomonas, ureaplasma urealyticum cause sterility too. Even sperm allergy is a viable reason.

Thus female infertility can be caused from a number of factors. And so, suggesting an effective treatment is very important. Going for conventional treatments will not help much as it will not try to find out the root cause and will only suggest assisted reproduction techniques such as ICSI and IVF. On the other hand, holistic remedies analyzes the overall health and well being of the females and identifies the real causes and only then suggests remedies. These remedies come in the forms of Chinese medications, herbs, acupuncture exercise, diet and lifestyle changes to get the desired results. This approach of holistic remedies to cure infertility is so much more successful.
